We Value the Spiritual Development of Children
We believe for children, spiritual development is closely woven into the physical and social development of a child. At Third, infants and toddlers experience the love of God through the nurture of dedicated teachers who care for them during Sunday School and worship. As a child grows into their early preschool years, they learn the stories of our faith during Sunday School and have the opportunity for social interaction in a safe environment while parents and caregivers participate in worship.
During the pre-kindergarten and kindergarten years, children continue to learn about God’s love through the example of their caregivers and expand their knowledge of the Biblical story during Sunday School. Pre-Kindergarteners and Kindergarteners also participate in extended session while their parents and caregivers attend worship. Extended session is for children ages birth through kindergarten. Beginning in the first grade, children attend worship with their family. Throughout the year, preschoolers are invited to participate in many children’s ministry events including the annual Easter Egg Hunt, Vacation Bible School and fall outing to a local pumpkin patch or apple orchard.
A few things about our ministry with preschoolers and kindergarteners: All of our volunteers in the children’s ministry have passed a background check. Preschool children can be dropped off in the 2’s & 3’s Sunday School class, room 102 on the first floor. (At the first floor landing, turn right for the preschool classrooms.) Parents and caregivers must sign in their child when dropping off and sign out their child when picking up. We offer a simple snack (juice and crackers) for children during worship. If your child has any allergies or dietary restrictions, please indicate this on the sign in sheet and let the volunteer in the classroom know.
