Our Calling

Third Baptist is a congregation of believers who come from the city and suburbs, Missouri and Illinois. Our building is located in midtown St. Louis. Third is a prominent institution in Grand Center, arts, entertainment and education district that houses leading cultural organizations and is bounded by neighbors ranging from a university to a public housing project.

We minister to the neighborhood, serve the region, and think globally. Our diverse congregation cuts across the boundaries of age, race, nationality, socio-economic status, and denominational background. Third Baptist is not readily categorized; it has a unique personality.

We invite you to visit us, and join us.

So… Why should you consider Third Baptist?

If you are ready to consider a church home in St. Louis, there are many reasons why our church might be the right match. Here are a few:

Challenge

We expect to grow in fellowship and discipleship, grow as a church, and grow in service to God’s kingdom. We believe an open, diverse, and committed congregation represents church the way Jesus meant it to be and, indeed, the way it must be if we are to spread His gospel to a changing world.

Communion

All Christians receive an open invitation to participate in communion at Third.

Baptism

If you have never publicly accepted Jesus Christ as Savior and been baptized, you would join our fellowship by profession of faith and baptism. Third practices baptism by immersion.

If you have been baptized in another church (any denomination) and would like to join Third, we will contact your former church request to have your membership moved to our church.

Denominational Affiliation

Third began as a Baptist church and never wavered. It chose, when Baptists split well over a century ago, not to divide but to be a member of both the American Baptist Churches USA and the Southern Baptist Convention. Third also is active in the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship.
