The Community

Our desire is to be his hands and feet in our community.

Christ calls us to be his presence, being his hands and feet in this community. These ministries are our attempt to be faithful to that call.

As you read about these ministries, please pray for those involved. As you pray, God may call you to action. If so, there is a place for you to serve here. To find out more, contact Tommy Simons, pastor at tsimons@third-baptist.org.

Local

The Paul Sasser Relief Fund helps church members and neighbors in financial need. This would include eviction, utility disconnection, inability to pay for prescriptions and transportation problems. Money from those funds also provides assistance to those who are unable to pay for Wednesday night dinners at church. A special offering is taken for the Sasser fund each first Sunday of the month at the conclusion of worship.

Food Pantry

Third Baptist has a long history of offering a Food Pantry on the third Saturday of each month from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM. The church partners with the St. Louis Area Foodbank to provide groceries to those in need. No advance registration is required to participate. The pantry is located on the church’s ground floor.

Reading Program/Tutoring

Our Tutoring program meets on Wednesday afternoons from 3 to 5 p.m.  Click here to learn more about our tutoring services.

Crossover Basketball League

Each year, over 70 children and their families spend Saturday mornings at Third Baptist participating in our Crossover Basketball League. In the Upward program, children develop their athletic abilities while being mentored in character building and spiritual formation.

The World

Third has a long-standing affiliation with the ministries of the Baptist World Alliance, American Baptist Churches USA, Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and the Southern Baptist Convention. Our members are also active as individuals and small groups, traveling to places such as the Gulf Coast, Peru, Texas, Costa Rica, Africa, Russia and Romania. This is determined by faithful prayer and God’s nudging.
